Who We Are
We are an affiliate of Love INC, a national ministry currently operating in 30 states. The mission of Love INC is carried out by more than 10,000 churches in over 155 affiliates across the United States. The congregations and community partners that make up each Love INC affiliate (including Love INC of Littleton!) are addressing serious unmet needs in their local areas.
As a Christian organization, our actions are rooted in prayer and compassion.
We strive to represent the diversity of churches in the Littleton area, with a mission to promote the unity of the Body of Christ. At the heart of Love INC of Littleton are the church volunteers, motivated by the desire to share God's love and inspired by Jesus' example of selfless giving. These volunteers provide tangible assistance, encouragement, and hope to others. They help meet immediate needs, and in many cases, teach people life-skills so that they can become more self-reliant.
Our History
In August 2006, we incorporated as a Colorado nonprofit company under the name of Acts4 Community Outreach Services, Inc. Our mission then was the same as it is now -- to help the churches in our Littleton area help those in need. We began as a connecting point between churches, other nonprofit agencies and county social service providers.
At the suggestion of a pastor in our area the Board of Directors took a look at an organization called Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ). Over the course of approximately 6 months, we interviewed a sample of Love INC affiliates and spoke with the staff at the national headquarters in Minneapolis, MN.
After much discussion and prayer, we made the decision to affiliate with Love INC. In March 2007, we became Acts4 Community Outreach Services, "doing business as" Love INC of Littleton. We have been excited about the resources and vision of Love INC and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership. With that decision our Littleton affiliate gained a wealth of resources and best practices from the national headquarters.
The board of directors formed in April 2008, the first part time executive director was employed in mid-June and our temporary offices opened at Centennial Covenant Church on the first of July. Board members attended Clearinghouse training with other affiliates in late August and we moved into our first permanent location at 6574 S. Broadway, September 15, 2008. Assembling the offices with donated furnature and computers, Love INC contacted 135 agencies and area church ministries in order to open the the Clearinghouse on October 29, 2008. The clearinghouse was opened three days a week until February 2009, when clearinghouse call hours were extended to four days per week.
Love INC filled a number of gaps in services from opening day including transportation to medical appointments, elderly visitation, meal delivery, minor home repair, and employment support. Financial/Budget counseling was added in July 2009, Dipes N' Wipes in Oct 2009, Thanksgiving Meals in Nov 2009, Haven's Hope Diaper minsitry in June 2010, Nursing Home Group visit in September 2010, Christmas Toy Ministry in December 2010, Education Outreach for Students and Teachers in September 2011.
Love INC's continued growth in the clearinhouse, with church partners, with volunteer teams, and client services created a need for additional space. The offices moved into twice the space, on ground level on November 1, 2011 at 5854 S. Datura Street.
