Love Stories: Love On Wheels Makes a Difference
Love INC responds to many in our community who are in need of food, clothing, diapers and resources for financial assistance and housing. We also provide an essential ministry called Love On Wheels. This ministry provides transportation to many of our seniors in the community to doctor appointments as well as rides for clients needing to go to a food bank. Over the last several months we have many client calls who are so thankful for the care and discipleship of our volunteers who have helped them with their transportation needs. Without family or friends to drive them, their genuine appreciation is heartfelt. Below are 3 client Love Stories.

Patty has been driven through our Love On Wheels ministry to get to doctor appointments for the past year. She called to tell us, “I don’t know what I would do without Love INC and the kindness of those who take me to my appointments. It means more to me than I can describe, and I truly want to thank all at Love INC who help me get to my appointments. Thank you so much. It is very good to know there are people out there to help someone like me.”

Cheryl is a new client who was referred to Love INC by one of our volunteers. Cheryl is disabled and lives with much pain and has difficulty walking. Before Love INC, Cheryl took the bus to her appointments even though it was very painful and it took most of the day to get to the appointment. A Love On Wheels took Cheryl to three appointments in December and she called to let us know how much she appreciates the rides. Her exact words shared were, “I can’t tell you how much this has changed my life, to be taken care of in such a loving and caring way. I have struggled with so much pain to get to my doctor on the bus which takes most of a whole day to do. The people driving me are wonderful, Christian, loving people. I can’t believe there are such good people out there. God bless Love INC and all that you do for so many. This has changed my life and restored my faith in others. Thank you!”

Love INC has helped Michelle find resources to pay her utility bills and driven her to food banks and appointments. Love On Wheels has helped Michelle and her family begin to see self reliance again. She called with deep gratitude for all Love INC has done for her and her family. She said, “I want to thank all those at Love INC who have helped me and my family to get back on our feet during a difficult time. Being taken to the food bank was the difference between starving and not starving. I am so thankful and touched by the generosity of others who will take the time to help someone they don’t even know.”

Love Comes Full Circle
As a client of Love INC Littleton in early 2010, George* contacted the office a year later to see how he might help out now that he was back on his feet.
When asked what his passion was. George replied, “I want to help families that are struggling within the Medicaid system.” What George didn’t know was that Love INC had just talked with a client needing assistance finding diapers through Medicaid for their older handicapped child. When George heard of their need he volunteered to advocate for the family and walked to the Medicaid office and met with a caseworker who assisted the family through the processes.
George shared his passion, wanted to give back after he received help through Love INC and made a difference in someone’s life. He is a shining example of Love coming full circle through Love INC!

“I know God is with me everyday.”
This is a love story that started in 2010 when our Clearinghouse Coordinator had the privilege of meeting Karen* and hearing her story.
Karen experienced job losses, financial disruption, mental health concerns and stumbling blocks in raising a teenage soon. She demonstrated a strong desire to seek treatment for her health concerns and wanted desperately to find permanent employment.
Her strong faith was evident as well as her intellectual gifts. Love INC quickly realized that a mentoring relationship with Karen and her son would allow Karen to make positive steps in her life.
Four months later Karen’s medical concerns became serious. Love INC volunteers felt a strong connection with Karen and a desire to encourage her along in her faith walk and bring hope to her future.
The next month, Karen communicated more hopelessness and began feeling desperate. Many volunteers and Love INC staff felt concerned and connected Karen with an emergency medical team. Soon after getting her the proper diagnosis and medical attention, Karen had a new outlook.
Karen called and attributed Love INC’s involvement to saving her life. Karen shared that she has a new relationship with her son because she has finally received medical treatment for her mental health diagnosis. Karen then said, “Do you remember when I said, ‘God would not allow me to go through this, where is he?’ Well, I know now he is with me everyday.”
Even more amazing was Karen’s statement that, “I will not be calling on Love INC so much because I am doing better… I would like your angels at Love INC to help others in need.”
God has spoken to all of us and we are all thankful to share this journey with Karen and her son.
